I never knew Lily, but I know she loved her blue and gold “blankie”. Barbara told me
that when she said to Lily it was “beddie-time”, Lily would bring her “blankie” to the bed
to cover herself.

I never knew Lily, but I know she was a tiny 6 lb Chihuahua with a happy heart that
trusted everyone. She had been raised since birth by Barbara & Alan; all she had ever
known was love and kindness.

When I asked Barbara about my planting a rosebush in Lily’s memory, Barbara told me
she would like a yellow rose planted. Because yellow is the color she associated with
Lily. Yellow symbolized sunshine, life and happiness – all the things that Lily had added
to Barbara & Alan’s lives. Lily was a member of their family; their little girl; their angel.

Yet, even in her tragic death, Lily continues to give. Lily became our “poster girl” for
Jack Sellers Racing. She was, and is, the inspiration for our Animal Abuse Awareness
Campaign. Jack and I were so haunted by the senseless, violent act that caused Lily’s
death that we vowed to educate the public about animal cruelty, as well as the steps they
can take to help convict alleged animal abusers.

Our Campaign is dedicated in Loving Memory of Lily. Because of Lily, and our
Campaign, there is now a legislator in the process of introducing a bill in his nearby state
to make it a felony (as in California) instead of a misdemeanor for this type of heinous
act.

The public response to Lily’s Story and our Campaign, has been nothing short of
amazing. And again, even now, Lily is bringing sunshine into our lives by showing us
how many good people are still in this world. People who care. People who are willing
to stand up for her. To be her voice and to fight for her. Because she can’t fight for
herself. And because of Lily and our Animal Abuse Awareness Campaign, people are
learning that they can Protect The Innocent and Be The Voice of all abused animals, not
just Lily.

I hope that whenever you see a beautiful sunrise, or a sunset that takes your breath
away…you pause and think of Lily. For Lily’s legacy continues to live on. Shining a
light for justice for all the innocent animals that have been abused.
